Law Enforcement Identity

Recently, there has been a push to have the identities of law

enforcement made public. This is not necessary and even

not legal under federal law.


First, if you have an issue with law enforcement behavior

you start and can contact the agency which is always clearly

marked for them at the scene. From this point, you will

be able to find their name etc...

Second, FOIA, or freedom of information act law has specifically

made exceptions for names of law enforcement officers

due to the many threats and dangers facing their family and

loved ones. Under 5 USC Section 552, specifically sections

6, 7(c), and 7(f), call for their names not to be released if

there is a foreseeable harm they may face. This seems to

be the new political attach on law enforcement. If you wish
